In 1989, Mineração Buritirama received the concession to mine manganese ore in Serra de Buritirama, Municipality of Marabá, State of Pará, in an area of 9,919.50 hectares, by Decree nr. 823 of the National Department of Mineral Production (Departamento Nacional de Produção Mineral).

A License of Operation has been issued by the Secretary of State for Environment – SEMA (Secretaria de Estado do Meio Ambiente – SEMA ), for the extraction and processing of 900.00 ty of Manganese.
