The mine is located in Serra de Buritirama, Municipality of Marabá, in the Center-Eastern region of the State of Pará. It is 144 km far from the city of Marabá. The access, by highway, is made through the Rio Preto road, from the road junction at the km-09 of the Transamazonic Highway. There are 135 km of dirt road, with good traffic conditions.

The mine also has a 950-m landing strip for small aircrafts. A big stockyard for ore stockpiling with capacity for 200,000 tons, located in Marabá, guarantees the reliability in the supply both for the internal and the external market. The exports are made from the port of Vila do Conde, next to Barcarena, around 487 Km far from Marabá.

Tocantins River, which cuts through the city of Marabá, is a natural way between the region and the coast, and harbors the dam of Tucuruí, whose hydro electrical plant is located at around 170Km from Marabá.
